“Some marble was being transported, some large marble slabs, and a tragic accident happened,” said Calgary Fire Department public information officer Carol Henke.

Paramedics declared the victim dead on scene shortly after their arrival.

The incident happened at one of the businesses in the Horizon Industrial Park, though Henke said the death occurred outdoors and couldn’t say which shop the worker was from.

Alberta Occupational Health and Safety is investigating, and the medical examiner is on scene.
