The Made by Google event is just around the corner. You can watch it on Tuesday, August 13 from Google HQ in Mountain View, California, starting at 10:00 AM PT/1:00 PM ET/6:00 PM BST.
While the best way to find out what Google has planned is to tune in to the live stream, that won't stop us from speculating about what the company will announce. And thankfully, we won't have to struggle to guess, thanks to the multitude of leaks about Google's upcoming gadgets, as most of the devices have already been fully shown off. Google's own videos have even confirmed
Here's a detailed look at everything Google is expected to announce at the Made by Google event. This should help you prepare for next week's Made by Google event and give you some insight into new products that might pique your interest.
Pixel 9 Phones
The main event of the Made by Google event will likely center around the new Pixel 9 phones. As usual, we expect Google to launch a base Pixel 9 and a Pixel 9 Pro. (Google has already released a teaser video that specifically mentions the Pixel 9 Pro.) The Pro is typically the larger of the two models, but this year Google is switching things up with a pair of Pixel 9 Pros — one will have the same screen as the standard Pixel 9 while the other will debut as the Pixel 9 Pro XL with either a 6.7-inch or 6.8-inch display.
All new Pixel phones are rumored to feature the Tensor G4 chipset, though some rumors suggest the power jump from the Tensor G3 to the G4 will be disappointing.
The camera bar will be getting a makeover this year, with rounded edges changing the overall look of the phones. The Pro models are expected to retain a triple-camera system, while the base Pixel 9 is expected to feature two cameras.
We don't think Google will try to reinvent the wheel with the Pixel 9 phones, but it should offer some smart upgrades that will appeal to fans of Google phones. Will this be a day one purchase? That depends on your needs, but some people are considering waiting to jump in.
Pixel 9 Pro Fold
As exciting as the main Pixel 9 phones are, the Pixel 9 Pro Fold, the successor to the Pixel Fold, is even more interesting. In an official video, Google showed us the phone, so we are 100% sure that we will see it at the Google event.
As for the specs and design, we expect the phone to feature a newer Tensor G4 chip like the other Pixel 9 phones.
The overall size of the Pixel 9 Fold might be the most interesting change. Recent rumors suggest that it will be thinner than the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 6, which would be a major selling point for Google.
Pixel Watch 3
The biggest rumor surrounding the Pixel Watch 3 suggests that Google will add a 45mm version, which is a good thing for those with larger wrists. It's always been a strange choice for Google to only offer one size for its smartwatch, so it'll be a good move to expand the lineup with another option.
We're confident that Google will bring Wear OS 5 to the latest smartwatch, as models like Samsung's Galaxy Watch 7 already feature the latest version of the operating system.
We haven't heard much about Google's next watch outside of these leaks. Luckily, the event is right around the corner, so we won't have to wait too long to find out more.
Pixel Buds Pro 2
The Pixel Buds Pro 2 charging case has appeared on certification sites in Denmark and South Korea, so we're pretty sure Google is looking into them ahead of their release. The certification shows that Google is equipping the Buds Pro 2 with a 650mAh battery instead of the 620mAh found on the previous model.
Google appears to have made several changes to the design, although it doesn't seem to be going with a stem design like Samsung did. The company is rumored to offer the earbuds in four colorways.
Android 15
Android 15 has been in beta since the spring, and it may be time for Google to bring it to the masses. Typically, new Pixel phones debut with a new version of Android, so we may see the Android 15 release date announced at the Made by Google event.
The event is designed to showcase Google's new hardware, so Android 15 could be mentioned early on. That said, one report suggests that Google will launch the Pixel 9 phones with Android 14, though with Google now providing seven years of software updates for its flagship phones, this delay shouldn't be too much of a problem.
AI, AI and more AI
These days, you can't have a tech event without a ton of AI. Google will most likely be showing off Gemini features in its new devices. Many of these features will be tied to Android 15, but we wouldn't be surprised if there are some non-Android AI announcements at the event, especially if they're for the Pixel 9 phones.
This probably won't be the main focus of the event – as mentioned, this is a hardware show first and foremost – but there might be something for AI fans to see.
Any surprises?
Whenever a major event like this happens, we always curl up and hope for something unexpected. Google has done a bad job of keeping quiet about the Pixel 9 devices, but that doesn't mean the company doesn't have something else in the works.
Could Google reveal a sequel to the Pixel tablet? Probably not, as there have certainly been leaks, but anything is possible.
Maybe Google has a hardware announcement we didn't even think about, although the release of devices like the Google TV Streamer and the 4th-gen Google Nest Learning Thermostat this week eliminates some potential candidates from consideration. We'll have to wait and see, but a mixed-in surprise would take the event to another level.
