Although Five has been talking about the end since the beginning, Season 4 of “The Umbrella Academy” It's true the end from the acclaimed Netflix series based on the Dark Horse comic book written by Gerard Way and illustrated by Gabriel Bá. But before the credits roll for the final time on this dysfunctional superhero family, the cast and crew take a moment to reflect on their six-year journey.
Netflix's official YouTube channel has unveiled a brand new behind-the-scenes look at the series just days before the final season drops on the streamer. In the video, titled “Road to the Final Season,” the cast and crew reflect on the journey they've taken on and off screen.
Emmy Raver-Lampman explains how Allison Hargreeves was her first major Hollywood role, even though she already had an impressive theater career with notable roles in “Hamilton” and “SpongeBob SquarePants: The New Musical.” Aidan Gallagher talks about how he's literally grown up before our eyes since he was just 13 when he first joined the production. And in the midst of an emotional final day of filming, Elliot Page talks about how he had “an extraordinary experience” working on “The Umbrella Academy.”
On the other side of the camera, showrunner Steve Blackman expresses his good fortune to have worked on the project for so long. However, despite the sadness of no longer working with these characters, Blackman says the show “reminded me why I love this business and why I love telling stories.”
And while the idea may be bittersweet, when it came to discussing the story's ending, Blackman only mentioned that it was “fair to the characters, fair to the fans, and fair to the source material.”
