Trying to figure out what to watch on Netflix?
One of the main reasons why we still think Netflix is one of the best streaming services out there is precisely because it offers such a huge range of shows and movies. This huge library can also be a nightmare to navigate if you don't know exactly what to watch next.
To sort through all the options, you can always turn to Netflix's top 10 shows list, though there's no guarantee that what's popular on the service is worth your time. That's where we come in. Here at Tom's Guide, we regularly go through this list and pick out the best things you should watch on Netflix.
As of 10:45 a.m. ET on Thursday, August 22, the list has changed a lot. Thanks to the arrival of 13 different AMC series on Netflix, much of the top 10 is dominated by AMC shows. That’s why our top three picks right now are the latest episodes of a hit Netflix original series, a new Western docuseries, and a gripping AMC crime thriller.
If none of these recommendations work for you, check out our picks for the 3 best movies on Netflix right now. Otherwise, here are the three series you should be streaming.
“Dark Winds”
Watch on
Feel like diving into a new dark thriller? Try “Dark Winds,” one of the many AMC series that hit Netflix just a few days ago.
For the uninitiated, “Dark Winds” is a crime thriller set in the 1970s and set in the American Southwest. It follows Navajo police officers Joe Leaphorn (Zahn McClarnon) and Jim Chee (Kiowa Gordon) as they investigate a series of crimes committed on the Navajo reservation.
The show is coming very recommended; Tom's Guide author Alix Blackburn recently hailed it as “a must-see for any thriller fan,” noting the show's gripping storytelling and unpredictable twists and turns. It also happens to have a perfect 100% score on Rotten Tomatoes, which means we're not the only ones recommending you watch it.

“Emilie in Paris”
Watch on
The first episodes of “Emily in Paris” season 4 were released a week ago, but the series is showing some staying power as it still sits at the top of Netflix's Top 10 shows.
Last time we saw her, Emily Cooper (Lily Collins) was reeling from all the news surrounding Camille and Gabriel's almost-marriage. Not only did the couple break up, but we learned that Camille was pregnant with his baby.
It's certainly a problem for Emily and Gabriel's romance, especially as the couple strives to earn a Michelin star. There's also drama for her loved ones: Sylvie has to deal with work issues, while Mindy is forced to save up to prepare for Eurovision. When the show returns, she'll also be jetting off on a Roman holiday when the series returns for part two.
