Today's Connections Answer — Hints to Help You Solve It
Unlike our Wordle answer guide today, where we recommend the best Wordle starter words as a strategy, solving Connections relies on identifying connecting categories among 16 words. The difficulty level of each category is represented by a color; yellow is the easiest grouping and purple is the hardest. Once you make 4 mistakes in your guesses, the answers will be revealed, so the hints can be helpful.
If you need hints to solve the groupings, here are the themes for each, in order of difficulty:
- 🟨 YELLOW:Cover with a thick layer
- 🟩 Green: Things that are inflated
- 🟦 Blue: Types of charts
- 🟪 Purple: Classic Cocktail Types
These clues should help you find at least part of the answers to today's questions about connections. If not, you can continue reading for more detailed clues; or, if you just want to know the answer, scroll down the page.
Here's a broader clue: Brew a strong drink while browsing through some maps before blowing everything up by layering.
Today's Connections Answers
So what are today's Connections answers for game #437?
Drum roll, please…
- 🟨 Cover with a thick layer: Cake, layer, plaster, coating
- 🟩 Things that are inflated: Ball, basketball, float, tire
- 🟦 Chart Types: Bar, bubble, line, pie
- 🟪 Types of classic cocktails: Sparkling, punchy, slinging, sour
After successfully solving yesterday's supposedly easier puzzle, today's “harder” puzzle was a nice reset.
I started to spot the purple category with the fizz, punch, sling and sour. But my mental connection was with the gin cocktails. All four cocktails listed are good with gin but can be made with other liqueurs.
Yellow was the next finish along with cake, plaster, plaster and render. Not much to say about that.
The air trap got me because I took a hit by putting a balloon, a buoy, a basketball and a bubble together. It was an easy swap to put a tire in instead.
I don't use a lot of charts in my life, but bar, line, and pie charts make sense to me. I don't think I've ever consciously seen a bubble chart or known that's what it was called. It's always nice to learn something new.
Answers to yesterday's connections
Reading this in a later time zone? Here are Connections' answers for game #436, which had a difficulty rating of 3 out of 5, according to the Connection companion.
Today's grid is apparently easier than Monday's. Not for me.
I won't say how long I spent figuring out the blue and purple categories, because I don't really know, but I had to take a break and come back to it.
I started the day with a green hook, a crank, a reel, a turn and a winder.
I was already thinking of yellow and so blow, draft, gust and breath fell shortly after I put the green words.
I took a few hits here because I couldn't see the blue or purple category for the life of me.
Usually I can make some sort of mental connection, but my brain wasn't working today. The only reason I got the blue category was a wild guess after nearly failing. I should have known that the bull, crab, lion, and ram are zodiac symbols, yes, but not today.
It's a shame because purple is fun with Dr. Seuss' main characters in Cat (in the hat), (How the) Grinch (Stole Christmas), (Hop on) Pop, and (Yertle the) Turtle (and other stories).
Sometimes it happens like this.
