Today's Connections Answer — Hints to Help You Solve It
Unlike our Wordle answer guide today, where we recommend the best Wordle starter words as a strategy, solving Connections relies on identifying connecting categories among 16 words. The difficulty level of each category is represented by a color; yellow is the easiest grouping and purple is the hardest. Once you make 4 mistakes in your guesses, the answers will be revealed, so the hints can be helpful.
If you need hints to solve the groupings, here are the themes for each, in order of difficulty:
- 🟨 YELLOW:Classic cinema equipment
- 🟩 Green: Level
- 🟦 Blue: Names of newspapers
- 🟪 Purple: Farce verbs
These clues should help you find at least part of the answers to today's questions about connections. If not, you can continue reading for more detailed clues; or, if you just want to know the answer, scroll down the page.
Here's a broader clue: Start strong with this one, thinking of classic pranks, then try to remember some printed newspapers, after that maybe go to a movie theater and finish with the levels by heart.
Today's Connections Answers
So what are today's Connections answers for game #438?
Drum roll, please…
- 🟨 Classic cinema equipment: Projector, reel, screen, speaker
- 🟩 Floor: Bridge, floor, level, story
- 🟦 Names of newspapers: Globe, mirror, pole, sun
- 🟪 Farce verbs: Egg, moon, trail, toilet paper
I'm telling you, this week, if the difficulty is 3, I'm on the puzzle. If it's 2, I'm stuck in front of the screen without saying anything. This is not my week.
To be fair to myself, I was in a hurry and very distracted by a five-year-old who had way too many questions for the time of day.
I managed to get the green category first with deck, floor, level and story. It's so boring I thought it would be yellow.
I have tried many times to create orbs with a globe, a sun, a moon and an egg. It is beyond me.
Somehow this led me to accidentally pick up newspaper names with globe, mirror, pole and sun. I don't know.
The yellow category finally came with the projector, reel, screen, and speaker. I will say that I spent most of the day thinking of the speaker as a “speaker” and not an audio device.
Purple, while funny, was the default word along with egg, moon, trail, and toilet paper. Maybe it would have given it away, but I would have preferred if they had used toilet paper instead of toilet paper. The verb toilet paper seems too formal.
Anyway, I'm hoping Friday will be a 3 so I can get back to it.
Answers to yesterday's connections
Reading this in a later time zone? Here are Connections' answers for game #437, which had a difficulty rating of 3.4 out of 5, according to the Connection companion.
After successfully solving yesterday's supposedly easier puzzle, today's “harder” puzzle was a nice reset.
I started to spot the purple category with the fizz, punch, sling and sour. But my mental connection was with the gin cocktails. All four cocktails listed are good with gin but can be made with other liqueurs.
Yellow was the next finish along with cake, plaster, plaster and render. Not much to say about that.
The air trap got me because I took a hit by putting a balloon, a buoy, a basketball and a bubble together. It was an easy swap to put a tire in instead.
I don't use a lot of charts in my life, but bar, line, and pie charts make sense to me. I don't think I've ever consciously seen a bubble chart or known that's what it was called. It's always nice to learn something new.
