Prime Video is bringing us back to “The Office” this fall, as they have confirmed that a new edition of the series is coming to the streaming service very soon.
Sadly, we’re not heading back to Scranton. Instead, this new version of “The Office” will be the 13th international iteration of the workplace comedy format, according to Deadline, and will take us to Australia, for “an Australian update” of the hit mockumentary.
Along with the announcement, the streaming service has released the first image (above) from the series, which features our new leader, Hannah Howard. She's the franchise's first female lead, played by Australian actress and comedian Felicity Ward (who you may have recently seen in Apple TV Plus' “Time Bandits”).
If you're looking forward to taking a trip to Flinley Craddick's (the show's Dunder Mifflin replacement) office later this year, here's everything else we know about “The Office Australia” right now.
What else do we know about Prime Video's 'The Office' series?
According to Prime Video's press release, we know that all eight episodes of “The Office Australia” will be available to stream on Prime Video starting Friday, October 18. We also have a synopsis for the series, which makes it sound like Hannah will be just as eccentric as David Brent (Ricky Gervais) or Michael Scott (Steve Carrell).
It reads: “In 'The Office,' Hannah Howard is the CEO of packaging company Flinley Craddick. When she receives news from head office that they are closing her branch and making everyone work from home, she goes into survival mode, making promises she can't keep in order to keep her 'work family' together. The staff at Flinley Craddick oblige her and must endure Hannah's outlandish schemes as they work to meet the impossible targets set for them.”
In addition to Ward, “The Office Australia” also stars Edith Poor, Steen Raskopoulos, Shari Sebbens, Josh Thomson, Jonny Brugh, Susan Ling Young, Raj Labade, Lucy Schmidt, Zoe Terakes, Pallavi Sharda and Claude Jabbour. Susie Youssef, Carlo Ritchie, Rick Donald and Chris Bunton will appear in guest roles.
The series is produced by BBC Studios Australia & New Zealand, Bunya Entertainment and Amazon MGM Studios. Could “The Office Australia” become one of the best Prime Video series? We don’t have much longer to wait to find out!
