Ever since “Game of Thrones” made us fall in love with the fantasy genre all over again, the top streaming services have been desperately trying to replicate that success with their own flagship fantasy series. But of all the streamers that have tried, Prime Video has probably been the most successful.
Amazon's streaming service has a stellar lineup of original titles and fantasy libraries that should suit every taste. Whether you're in the mood for a “Buffy”-esque series, an epic fantasy saga to immerse yourself in, or a wacky sword-and-sorcery adventure, Prime Video has you covered.
In my humble opinion, several of the shows on this list deserve to be considered among the best Prime Video shows, period. Here are some of the best fantasy shows on Prime Video that you can stream right now.
“Good omens”

Based on the novel of the same name by Terry Pratchett and Neil Gaiman, “Good Omens” is a fantasy comedy that primarily revolves around the demon Crowley (David Tennant) and the angel Aziraphale (Michael Sheen), who serve as representatives of Heaven and Hell on Earth.
There, they desperately try to prevent Armageddon from happening, as they have grown attached to their home and friendship, and have set out to prevent the coming of the Antichrist and the end of the world as they know it… much to the chagrin of both sides of the war.

'Grimm'

What if “Buffy the Vampire Slayer” was also a detective series? That's basically the plot of “Grimm,” an NBC fantasy-crime series that brings the Brothers Grimm fairy tales to life in a whole new way.
This entertaining fantasy-crime series ran for six seasons between 2011 and 2017 and revolves around a modern-day homicide detective, Nick Burkhardt (David Giuntoli), based in Portland, Oregon. Nick discovers that he is a “Grimm,” a descendant of a long line of people who can see the mythological creatures (“Wesen”) that walk among us and who have vowed to maintain the balance between these Wesen and humanity. Soon, he is battling all manner of fantastical beings, all while solving crimes and keeping his identity a secret.

'Merlin'

“Merlin” is a British fantasy drama that originally aired for five seasons between 2008 and 2012 and has remained a fan favorite ever since.
If you haven't read it yet, “Merlin” is a reinterpretation of the classic Arthurian legend. We follow a young and powerful Merlin (Colin Morgan) to the kingdom of Camelot. There, he soon discovers that he is supposed to use his “gifts” to protect Prince Arthur, though he is forced to do so while hiding his magical powers after King Uther outlaws the practice of magic.
At first, the two men don't really like each other, but end up forming a solid friendship over the course of their various action-packed adventures where they prepare for their respective destinies.

“My Lady Jane”

“My Lady Jane” is a genre-bending adventure that you absolutely must not miss. real Lady Jane Grey is best known as history's “Nine Days Queen” (she only sat on the English throne for nine days in 1553), and this ahistorical adventure is a radical reimagining of her story.
Based on the novel of the same name by Cynthia Hand, Brodi Ashton and Jodi Meadows, this series transforms Jane (Emily Bader) into a courageous heroine who is more than capable of saving herself, and who couldn't be less excited about her impending marriage to the handsome Lord Dudley (Edward Bluemel).
As the series progresses, this marriage becomes the least of her worries; Jane finds herself caught up in a conspiracy to seize the throne and embroiled in a conflict between the kingdom's shapeshifting inhabitants (“Ethians”) and the “Verities” (ordinary humans).

“The Legend of Vox Machina”

The series is an adaptation of stories from the hugely popular Dungeons and Dragons live-action game series, Critical Role, in which a group of professional actors live-stream their D&D game to thousands upon thousands of viewers.

“The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power”

Look, this might be a divisive choice, but you can't not Let's talk about “The Lord of the Rings: Rings of Power.” The series certainly has its detractors, but it remains a gloriously realized journey into Tolkien's Second Age; Amazon has spent a tonne of money to bring this chapter of Middle-earth history to life, and it watch.
Much like Peter Jackson's acclaimed trilogy, this is an equally epic adventure that draws inspiration from another chapter of Tolkien's legend: the Second Age.
