Supercell appoints new CFO | GamesIndustry.biz

Supercell has appointed Gerard Griffin as its new CFO.

Griffin has more than 25 years of experience in financial and corporate leadership roles, having previously held senior positions at companies including EA, Zynga, NBC and Sportradar.

Looking ahead, Griffin says he will “work with (…) the leadership team to creatively grow our games and our business.”

Outgoing CFO Janne Snellman will remain at Supercell “with the goal of supporting existing and future growth initiatives, including working with companies in which it invests.”

“I'm thrilled to be joining the incredible team at Supercell and working with Ilkka and the leadership team to creatively grow our games and our business,” Griffin said.

“I'm excited for the future as we continue to innovate and expand our portfolio of world-class games and our highly engaged player base.”

Ilkka Paananen, CEO and co-founder of Supercell, added: “Ger knows what it takes to build and grow great companies. We have a long history of creating great games, and Ger’s leadership will help us continue to build an even better business at the same time.”

“His passion for gaming, his vast experience and of course his unique Irish sense of humour, which seems to blend very well with Supercell's culture, will help us level up.”

An earlier version of this story's headline said Griffin had been named chief executive, not chief financial officer. This has been amended and updated.
