We've heard that the Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra's engineering could fix some of the Galaxy S24 Ultra's display design that makes it difficult to use for some people. This comes from Ice Universe, who previously leaked the design of the top-of-the-line Galaxy S25 model, and has now given some additional context.
IU starts by complaining about the Galaxy S24 Ultra's design: its width is taken up by a slightly too-large frame and side rail. This makes the S24 Ultra more difficult to use because there's more room to reach the edge if you're trying to use the phone one-handed, and especially if you're wearing a case.
However, all of this should be sorted out next year. IU claims that the S25 Ultra is narrower while having a wider display, which solves both of the issues it initially mentioned. It doesn't give us the new measurements, though, simply telling one commenter that the S25 Ultra is similar in thickness to the iPhone 16 Pro Max.
Making big feel small
Big phones will always be harder to handle than small ones, but there are ways to fix that. Making the sides of the display and back curved is one option, though that trend seems to be dying out. While reducing the width of the bezel and side rail won't have as big an impact as curved edges, it's still good to hear that Samsung could still make a positive design change to its 2025 flagship phone.
Other rumors about the Galaxy S25 Ultra suggest it could get more curved corners to improve its design, more RAM to improve performance and AI features, and updates to the ultra-wide/telephoto camera. We’ll happily accept all of these new features, but none of them seem to give the S25 UItra a decisive advantage that would allow it to easily compete with the recently announced Pixel 9 Pro XL or the long-awaited iPhone 16 Pro Max.
We'll probably have to wait until next January to see the launch of the Galaxy S25 and Galaxy S25 Ultra. But you can read our rumors in the meantime if you want to know more.
