THE PS5 Pro Sony has yet to officially announce the PS5 Pro, but that hasn't stopped people from flocking to pre-order the PS5 Pro. This is to be expected, as for the first two years of the PS5's lifecycle, buying one was a near-herculean task that required extensive knowledge of retailers and a dose of luck.
Assuming the rumors are true (and it's important to note that, as of now, not everything about the PS5 Pro is confirmed), Sony is planning to release its beefed-up PS5 machine later this year, and it's highly likely that many gamers will spend the holiday season hunting down PS5 Pro restocks after the machine sold out in mere minutes. Naturally, the most impatient gamers are eager to get a head start.
PS5 Pro pre-orders could start next month
The Shortcut's Matt Swider weighs in, having turned his personal X account into one of the internet's biggest stock trackers. It's fair to say that when it comes to stock drops and pre-orders, Swider is a real expert. And the restock guru recently gave his take on when PS5 Pro pre-orders might go live.
“PS5 Pro pre-orders could start as early as next month,” Swider claims in a recent article on The Shortcut. Swider made this prediction by looking at Sony’s historical model and noting that the original PS5 and PS4 Pro were made available for pre-order in September 2020 and 2016, respectively. Both then went on sale in November.
The PS5 Pro is expected to release in September, and some tipsters suggest that Sony's presence at the Tokyo Game Show later this month is a telltale sign that a major announcement is in the works. If these online rumors are accurate, it stands to reason that Sony is once again following the pattern of holding a pre-order period in September before a global release in November. As such, PS5 Pro pre-orders could be starting in just a few weeks.
Swider's speculation certainly makes sense, but it's important to note that it's still speculation at this point. Sony hasn't officially announced the PS5 Pro yet, so the machine itself may never come to fruition (remember how many Nintendo Switch Pro rumors circulated only to never come to fruition?), and even if the gaming giant does eventually confirm that the PS5 Pro is real, pre-orders may not go live until September.
For now, it's important to take everything related to the PS5 Pro with a healthy grain of salt.
