Strands #170
“I think we're covered”

Hello Strands fans. This was a bit of a tricky question. Not only can the “I think we’re covered” theme apply to a lot of different things, but some of the answers seem to be very US-centric.
I actually had to use a hint to get the first word on the board after many false starts. HOOD was revealed, and I guessed it was things covering other things?
But then I got UMBRELLA and realized it was specifically rainproof clothing. SLICKER followed, then I traced the word “RAIN” from left to right to spell the spelling of RAINGEAR.
Completely by chance, I had already completed the top half of the board, which left three words to be discovered in the bottom segment.
The word PONCHO on the bottom left came first, but I have to say the last two took a lot of trial and error, as neither are really common words. While I have indeed heard of GALOSHES, GAITERS is not a term I am familiar with at all.
Difficult! I hope tomorrow's puzzle will be easier.
