Today's Connections Answer — Hints to Help You Solve It
Unlike our Wordle answer guide today, where we recommend the best Wordle starter words as a strategy, solving Connections relies on identifying connecting categories among 16 words. The difficulty level of each category is represented by a color; yellow is the easiest grouping and purple is the hardest. Once you make 4 mistakes in your guesses, the answers will be revealed, so the hints can be helpful.
If you need hints to solve the groupings, here are the themes for each, in order of difficulty:
- 🟨 YELLOW:Splashy Ways to Get Into a Pool
- 🟩 Green: To reiterate
- 🟦 Blue: Pillar
- 🟪 Purple: _____ Radio
These clues should help you find at least part of the answers to today's questions about connections. If not, you can continue reading for more detailed clues; or, if you just want to know the answer, scroll down the page.
Here's a broader clue: I say start with this one and understand the radio connections. After that, take a dip, then repeat before considering the pillars.
Today's Connections Answers
So what are today's Connections answers for game #424?
Drum roll please…
- 🟨 Splashy ways to get into a pool: backflip, belly flip, cannonball, jackknife
- 🟩 To reiterate: Echo, parrot, quote, repetition
- 🟦 Pillar: Anchor, spine, cornerstone, pillar
- 🟪 ____ Radio: Ham, Pirate, Satellite, Talk
After yesterday's jump in difficulty, it is with surprise that we fall back into easy terrain with today's grid.
I managed to hit purple early today when I saw the ham radio and immediately thought of radio. It was a fun little hunt to find the pirate, the satellite and talk.
I found green next with echo, parrot, quote and repeat, which relates well to the radio category.
The 3 easiest colors could be reversed as I think they are all about the same difficulty level.
After getting green, the goal was to do them in reverse order, but I got the yellow category first. It's a fun game with backflips, belly flips, cannonballs, and jackknife's to jump into a pool.
Blue was the default filler material today with the anchor, spine, cornerstone, and pillar. It supported the rest of the connections for today.
Answers to yesterday's connections
Reading this in a later time zone? Here are Connections' answers for game #423, which had a difficulty rating of 3.3 out of 5, according to the Connection companion.
I managed to complete today's puzzle, which is always satisfying when it happens. More often than not, I'm surprised at what the NYT Games team considers a green or blue category versus the others.
Yellow was an easy spot with jam, pack, ram and others. I think ram is a tricky word here because I don't think most people will think of it as a word that means to stuff.
Green was pretty easy after that with the cook, diver, host and server. I have to say I fell into the computer trap when I tried to get the server, byte, server and host to work. It didn't work.
I had thought about the electromagnetic spectrum before, but I hadn't thought about the visible until I got to the last eight words. It became obvious that the visible corresponded better to microwaves, radio, and X-rays than to the last four.
Purple makes sense and seems like the one you should get much earlier with bridle, byte, comedian and drill. Which I think is the mark of a good purple when the answers make you feel like you should have known that.
