“Our new report highlights the growth and dynamism of the European video games sector, driven by an engaged player base,” said Video Games Europe President Hester Woodliffe.

“In Europe, as our dynamic sector grows and leads digital innovation and creativity, EU Member States need to create a robust long-term strategy for talent development. Addressing skills gaps, supporting teachers and encouraging girls to participate in STEAM programmes are crucial steps. Investing in skills policies, training and education in video games will keep the sector competitive and thriving.”

EGDF President Hendrik Lesser added: “Investing in fostering intellectual property and unlocking the full potential of SMEs in the European games industry through innovation, business creation and production support will drive further growth. This will help to unleash innovation and respect the important role of SMEs within the European games development infrastructure.”
