Former Epic Games executive Alain Tascan has been named president of Netflix Games.
Tascan served as executive vice president of game development at Epic Games from November 2018 to July 2024, overseeing development of Fortnite, Rocket League, and Fall Guys.
Prior to joining Epic, Tascan founded Ubisoft and EA’s Montreal studios and was also the founder and CEO of Umi Games.
Tascan will take over for Mike Verdu, who moved to an undisclosed position within Netflix Games focused on “transformative innovation in game creation and development,” Variety reported.
“I'm honored and delighted to continue building on the extraordinary foundation laid here by the talented gaming team, and I firmly believe that Netflix is uniquely positioned to redefine the future of gaming,” said Tascan.
Greg Peters, co-CEO of Netflix, added: “Alain brings over 30 years of experience developing, producing, licensing and building global game studios. He has a passion for making games and a proven track record of taking bold creative bets. We are thrilled to have him lead Netflix Games.”
Netflix Games currently has over 80 titles in development and recently announced plans to release a new game to subscribers every month from July 2024 onwards.
The streaming giant began taking a “more strategic” approach to its gaming segment last March, after acquiring studios such as Night School and Spry Fox.
