Squanch Games' High on Life is getting an animated comedy series adaptation.
According to Deadline, Curb Your Enthusiasm actor JB Smoove (who also voiced one of the title's sentient weapons) will produce the series through his Alternate Side Productions. It's unclear at this time if he'll also have an acting role in the series, but Deadline indicated that it's likely.
Mandy Bardisbanian and Russell Binder of Squanch Games and Striker Entertainment will also serve as executive producers alongside Alternate Side Productions.
JB Smoove commented: “High on Life is wild, weird and wonderful, and the series will be that and so much more! Get ready to laugh your way through space with some unforgettable characters like myself! We're ready and prepared to go!”
Binder added: “It’s a unicorn video game that’s fun and has the perfect balance of action and story to keep players interested and demanding more. Celebrating the fact that JB Smoove is a voice and fan of the game, we felt we had to look no further than partnering with Alternate Side Productions to adapt this title. With downloadable content, merchandising, and a publishing schedule, High On Life is tailor-made for multimedia storytelling and fan engagement.”
High on Life was the biggest Game Pass release of 2022, having launched in December of that year. By April 2023, the title had amassed 7.5 million unique players.
