Late summer/early fall is usually when all the new, top-tier smartwatch models are released. We just got our first look at the updated Google Pixel Watch 3 , and I just finished my review of the equally impressive Samsung Galaxy Watch 7 . However, Apple, Garmin, and other brands have yet to reveal their latest offerings.
With Garmin's new models set to launch in just a few weeks, early images of the upcoming devices have been leaked by WinFuture, including our first look at what could very well be the Garmin Fenix 8 sports watch, the high-end Garmin Enduro 2, and a brand new model that could potentially be a budget alternative to the Fenix 8. Here's what you need to know.
Garmin Fenix 8
The Garmin Fenix 8 is one of the most anticipated rugged, adventure-ready smartwatch models of 2024. A direct competitor to the Apple Watch Ultra 2 and the new Samsung Galaxy Watch 7, everything indicates that an AMOLED display will be its most significant improvement. That said, a lot remains unknown.
All previous Garmin Fenix models have featured relatively less impressive MiP (memory in pixels) displays, which consume less battery but are also harder to see in direct sunlight. AMOLED displays, by comparison, tend to be brighter, with faster refresh rates, a wider color gamut, and better saturation.
The Fenix 8 could also offer more storage capacity than its predecessors to support offline maps, among other improvements.
A new Garmin Fenix model at a low price?
The leaked images also reveal a completely new device, in addition to the Garmin Fenix 8, which many industry experts expect to be a more budget-friendly alternative to the Fenix 8 with all the latest features, minus the improved AMOLED display.
Given that the cheapest Fenix 7 model is currently listed at $649, it will be interesting to see if this more affordable Fenix 8 model, potentially called the Fenix E, will debut for less than that. Rumors suggest it will only come in 47mm and with a MiPs display, but pricing details remain unclear.
Garmin Enduro 3
The third and final sports watch featured in the recently leaked Garmin smartwatch image appears to be the next-gen Garmin Enduro watch, one of the brand's most expensive wrist-worn offerings. As with the other upcoming models, concrete details are scarce. That said, I'll update this article with more details as they become available.
Additionally, my colleagues and I will be covering all of Garmin's latest wearable product releases as they launch, with pricing and availability information, detailed comparisons between each model's top competitors, and much more.
