Peloton is launching several new entertainment options for your workout as the exercise company partners with Amazon and DirecTV.
For those who can focus on writing while working out, Peloton and Amazon have teamed up to bring Kindle e-books to Peloton machines.
From what we can see, this feature is now available to anyone who owns a Peloton Bike, Bike+, Tread, or Tread+ exercise machine. If you own a Peloton machine, you can find your Kindle library in the Entertainment tab at the bottom of the navigation bar on the device screen.
Because the Kindle app works on other devices, you can pick up a book where you left off and make changes. This includes adjusting font sizes, placing bookmarks, and moving between chapters. Turning pages is as easy as tapping the screen.
Amazon's announcement doesn't make it clear how you'll be able to integrate guided workouts with reading a book, but you might prefer to start a run or ride without a guide. Peloton hasn't made an official announcement yet.
Amazon provided several book recommendations in its announcement post if you want something new to read.
Kindle functionality is not available everywhere except the United States, Canada, United Kingdom, Australia, Austria, and Germany.
Stream DIRECTV
In other Peloton and entertainment news, the fitness company is partnering with DirecTV to bring DirecTV Stream to what seems like every Peloton machine, including bikes, treadmills, and rowers.
The partnership allows athletes to watch sports shows, news and events while following training programs through a new “Just Guidance” feature. Just Guidance features workouts created by Peloton instructors.
DirecTV Stream is DirecTV’s live channel package that you can stream on smart devices. You needed a subscription with the entry-level “Entertainment” option starting at $59.99. They also offer add-ons or packages that are more sports-focused. In our review, Kelly Woo said the streamer works best for sports fans, but it might not compare to other live services like Hulu with Live TV or YouTube TV
