Epic’s mobile marketplace and The Plucky Squire’s brave launch | GI Microcast

The latest episode of the GI Microcast is now available for download and offers a quick look at the biggest stories from the past week.

This week’s main topic is the launch of the Epic Games Store on mobile, which brings Fortnite back to Android and (in the EU) iOS four years after Epic began its legal dispute with Apple and Google. We talk about the potential of alternative mobile stores and Epic’s goal of reaching 100,000 installs by 2025 despite the 12 to 15 steps players must take in each mobile ecosystem.

And in this week's What Do the Numbers Mean?, Chris looks at the long-awaited release date for Devolver Digital's The Plucky Squire, two fairly big games (and one very similar one) coming out around it, and of course, sales figures that offer a little more context.

Don’t forget, this is the first of a series of daily podcasts we’ll be publishing throughout the week while the team is in Cologne for Devcom and Gamescom. We’ll have an interview with a guest tomorrow, plus you can tune into the official Devcom stream on Twitch at 4:00pm CEST / 5:00pm UK for our live Q&A show.
