Bandai Namco has released its first quarter financial results, recording a significant increase in both net sales and profits.
For the three months ended June 30, 2024, net sales increased 24.8% year-on-year to ¥280 billion (USD 1.9 billion), while profit increased 56.3% to ¥34 billion (USD 233 million).
The publisher saw a surge in digital entertainment sales, which rose 55.8 percent to 106 billion yen ($725 million).
FromSoftware's Elden Ring expansion, Shadow of the Erdtree, launched during the first quarter and sold five million units in three days after its release on June 21.
Bandai Namco previously said Gaming Industry.biz that he hoped the DLC would have a “significant impact” on Elden Ring sales.
Meanwhile, sales within its entertainment segment also increased during this quarter by 17% to ¥33 million (USD 225,760).
Looking ahead, Bandai Namco’s full-year outlook remains the same as it announced on May 20. However, it has revised its estimates for the six months ending September 30, 2024.
Net sales were originally forecast at 515 billion yen ($3.5 billion) and profits at 40 billion yen ($273 million). The company now expects net sales to reach 555 billion yen ($3.7 billion) and profits at 60 billion yen ($410 million).
