A few years ago, “Furiosa” star Anya Taylor-Joy starred in “The Queen’s Gambit,” which is still the fifth most popular Netflix series of all time. Following a recent announcement from the streamer, I’m convinced they might have another big success in their hands.
That's because we've just learned that Anya Taylor-Joy is set to return to one of the top streaming services for a new eight-episode thriller based on Bella Mackie's 2021 Sunday Times bestselling novel, “How to Kill Your Family.”
Mackie's novel is a darkly comic adventure that follows Grace Bernard (Anya Taylor-Joy), a young woman who decides to seek revenge on her estranged, super-rich family members after her dying mother's pleas for help are rejected.
“As soon as I turned the last page, I knew I had to be a part of making this story happen,” Taylor-Joy told Netflix. “After tracking down the inimitable Bella Mackie, I couldn’t be more thrilled to collaborate with the team of executive producers Sally Woodward Gentle, Lizzie Rusbridger and Emma Watson.” [Moran, writer and executive producer]. I can't wait to get our hands even dirty.

What do we know so far about 'How to Kill Your Family'?
As in the book, the series follows Grace as she vows revenge on the family that forgot her. Her father, Simon Artemis, is a billionaire who fathered her after an affair he claims he doesn't remember.
After her mother dies and Grace is rejected by the Artemis, she goes on a murder spree, killing her extended family through creative means. In the process, she comes ever closer to landing a huge legacy. Such a deadly quest threatens to take her away from what she truly needs…
As a premise, it’s a dark and gripping thriller, but what makes the story stand out is its sly sense of humor. This isn’t your typical serial killer thriller; it’s also a genuinely funny farce, and I’m convinced that Emma Moran — the creative mind behind Hulu’s hilarious superhero series “Extraordinary” — is the perfect person to bring the series to life.
Can't wait? Well, you might have to wait a little longer before “How to Kill Your Family” hits Netflix. Anya Taylor-Joy is the only confirmed cast member at the time of writing, and the streamer has yet to confirm a release date.
